Billed as the market’s first removable and rechargeable backlit label, X-Label is the brainchild of French packaging supplier Dapy. Geared to the nightlife market, the patented solution offers a lifetime of up to six hours.
Dapy’s luminous X-Label has several advantages, according to its creator: the “ultra-bright” backlit light lasts between four to six hours and can be recharged up to 200 times via a USB port and is removable and can be reapplied at will on different surfaces up to 50 times. The removable aspect facilitates the bottle’s recycling and offers a more virtuous solution than a single-use label. Designed to wrap around the bottle up to 270°, X-Label is also waterproof.
“The patented aspects of X-Label include the backlighting system, its thinness (1.5mm), and the design with hidden electronics and an on/off switch, but no battery box. The only limit today is that the label be two-dimensional, either flat or curved,” explains Dapy Project Director Marc Bruneau.
The solution is made of a double-faced waterproof, magnet-free material that adheres to any hard and smooth surface, namely glass. While X-Label comes in two versions, either rigid or flexible, the rigid option offers an easier manufacturing process.
