With Re-Play label range, Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives upcycles glassine

Italian label specialist Fedrigoni’s Re-Play is a 100% recycled paper label that incorporates upcycled siliconized glassine liner.

In line with its strategy of implementing recycled and reuse solutions for its self-adhesive label liners, Fedrigoni Group has just launched Re-Play, a line of four papers that integrate siliconized glassine liner into the facestock. The supplier’s Re-Play liner recovery service sources the glassine directly from the supplier’s end-customers—printers, converters or manufacturers. “Fedrigoni's goal to involve the end customer is an integral part of this circular economy approach, with the inclusion of the entire supply chain, starting with the printers, who are the first users of the self-adhesive material,” explains Executive VP of Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives, Fulvio Capussotti.

Through an exclusive partnership with Les Papeteries de Clairefontaine, the glassine backing is processed with white wastepaper via a low-temperature, biomass-powered repulping process. The technique does not require de-inking. Fedrigoni did not specify how much the glassine liner makes up in the paper’s composition.

The Re-Play range includes four types of FSC-certified paper – Nature White, Martelé, Retrò and Pearl.

Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives is a member of the CELAB-Europe, a consortium of 30 companies in the self-adhesives industry looking to implement reuse and recycling initiatives for label matrix and liners.
