A monomaterial PE tube, single-dose make-up products and a biodegradable pack and formula were among the products recognized at MakeUp in LosAngeles’ IT Awards 2023.
Some 23 finalists were selected to compete for a coveted IT Award at MakeUp in LosAngeles this year. They were chosen from among the more than 120 new skincare and make-up products submitted by show exhibitors across packaging, accessories, full service and formulation.
Packaging
The Packaging award went to SVR’s Crème Topialyse tube made by Albéa. The monomaterial tube combines a 350-micron PE sleeve with the supplier’s Ecofusion closure. Compared to a standard tube, it is said to reduce plastic use by 50%.
Full Service
MS Beautilab won the Full Service IT Award for Skin Fusion, which combines a biodegradable pack made from coated paper with a water-activated solid formula. Using a wet finger, the two Skin Fusion formulas are removed from the backing paper and massaged into to the skin. The product can be used for boosters, eye-contour cream, dark spot or anti-wrinkle treatments among others.
The full service ‘coup de coeur’ went to ITIT Cosmetics’ Make-up snacks. These single-dose make-up products includes eyeshadows and lipsticks. As well as being convenient for air travel, they can also be used as testers in-store.
Formulation
Mana Products scooped the Formulation IT Award for its Skin Barrier Lotion SPF 50. The 5-in-1 mineral formula transforms into a matte powder finish upon application. The formula is said to sooth and protect, as well as moisturize and plump skin.
The formulation ‘coup de coeur’ went to Chromavis Fareva’s snowglobe-inspired stick-format lip product with a “shimmery liquid” core. It can incorporate three different types of liquid core: a fluid hybrid core containing water-soluble actives, a liquid gloss or an anhydrous liquid lipstick.
Accessories
In the Accessories category, two finalists were highlighted at the show in lieu of an overall winner. Both products were presented by ACT Beauty. The Wonder Gua Sha is a rose quartz massage stone whose design makes it suitable for use on the face and body. ACT Beauty’s biosourced blender sponge based on sugar cane is positioned as home compostable.
