West Cork Distillers bets on pink gin

Irish spirits group West Cork Distillers has launched Irish Pink Gin under its Garnish Island gin brand. Housed in a bespoke hexagonal bottle, the spirit includes botanicals sourced from the Italian gardens of West Cork's Garnish Island.

West Cork Distillers tapped Portuguese creative studio ThinkBold for the packaging design of its latest launch – Garnish Island Irish Pink Gin. The wine and spirits packaging design specialist focused on the botanicals’ origins to create a packaging reflecting the spirit inside.

The bespoke glass bottle (WePack) boasts an elongated neck and curved shoulders. Each facet of the hexagonal bottle depicts one of the botanicals used in the gin. The thick-based lower part of the bottle bears the name of the brand’s head distiller.

On the facing, the irregularly die cut label (Vox Artes Gráfica) combines digital printing in pantone colors with UV tactile braille varnish and discreet accents of gold hot foil . The surrounding text and floral ornaments are digitally printed and then embossed. A wraparound, fuchsia neck label with gold detailing holds the stopper in place, avoiding the need for a plastic seal. The spirit is topped with a natural cork stopper (J.Tavares lda) featuring a varnished wood finish capsule.

Garnish Island Irish Pink Gin is distilled in small batches and double infused with rose, hibiscus and strawberry. Launched in June, the spirit retails at €38 for 700ml.
