Fedrigoni & Vodka Votiva: When Packaging Becomes Art

Vodka Votiva’s packaging, entirely created using materials from Fedrigoni group’s catalog, is a perfect example of how thin, almost imperceptible even, is the line between art and design. In developing the coffret, studio Spazio Di Paolo studio drew inspiration from the last standing column - of the original 48 - at the Greek Temple of Hera Lacinia in Capo Colonna (formerly known as Lacinion), erected in honor of the Greek goddess Hera, protector of women and families.

This ambitious project, exclusively made of materials from Fedrigoni group’s catalog, will be officially presented at LUXE PACK Monaco 2021 fair. For this project, Fedrigoni group, which has recently evolved to make the most of synergies between it papers and self-adhesive divisions, developed packaging designed around a single material, which became a central theme tying the entire project together, much like the architrave that connects the columns in a Greek temple.

This project used Materica Gesso, a pure cotton paper whose texture, reminiscent of stone, is a direct reference to the column that inspired the product. This distinctive paper was used in tandem with Sirio White White to make the box containing the bottle, which was created by Pozzoli and equipped with the innovative Twist2Open open and closing system. The coffret owes its evocative character to a set of surprising finishing details, such as hot stamping and offset embossing suggestive of the marble associated with ancient Greek temples.

But the label takes the sensorial experience a step further. It’s a well-known fact that consumers experience their first emotional connection with a product through the label, which can become a direct and powerful means of communication. With this in mind, the Vodka Votiva label, made with Manter self-adhesive papers, Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives’ premium line of materials, combines Materica Gesso Ultra WS and Moonlight, a paper immediately recognizable by its elegant watermark effect.

Tonutti Tecniche Grafiche Spa put its significant experience to work crafting a magnificent label, achieved by skillfully layering natural Manter papers and finishing with Luxoro gold leaf. The result is a shimmering label with vertical golden accents and a captivating three-dimensionality; it seems to literally “leap off” the bottle and inhabit the surrounding environment.

The bottle is equally enchanting. Estal glassworks’ famous DA Tramo bottle is immediately recognizable; here it is topped with a cork stopper from the Amorim Top Series line, which both imprisons and protects Vodka Votiva while enhancing each aromatic note. The cork body is crowned with a lovely head in precious metal that serves as the foundation for an exclusive design obtained using FREEDecor technology and evocative of classical marble columns.

This collaborative project brought together the best of the sector from many fields, beginning with the numerous solutions offered in the catalog The Art of Luxury Labelling Pocket Collection, published by Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives, designed to provide the best solutions for luxury labelling needs.

Discover the full range of Group Fedrigoni’s savoir-faire from September 26 to 29, 2021, at LUXE PACK Monaco, stand VA02 HALLE VERRIER.
