To celebrate 15 years of its Flowerbomb fragrance, Viktor & Rolf (L’Oréal) called on Iconic Design to conceive a limited-edition pack. The French agency designed a 3D-printed curved “crown” to encase the fragrance’s faceted bottle.
Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb 15th Anniversary Haute Couture Edition combines craftsmanship and technology - the rose gold cage of brambles adorned with flowers that sits on the flacon was designed by Iconic Paris and created by Erpro 3D Factory using additive manufacturing.
“For this limited-edition, Viktor & Rolf wanted to create a beautiful object - almost like a piece of sculpted jewelry - that is luxurious, feminine and in line with its couture codes,” explains Alexis Voiron, artistic director of Iconic Design, which has previously worked on the brand’s travel-retail exclusives.
The crown and its flowers are 3D printed in a black resin (Erpro 3D Factory), then hand polished and assembled. The structure was decorated via electroplating (Smart Metal Design) to obtain the rose gold metallic finish. Achieving an extremely smooth and pristine surface using 3D printing was tricky, says Erpro 3D Factoryr; the supplier opted for Carbon’s CLIP (Continuous Liquid Interface Production) technology to limit the appearance of layer lines.
Just 15 pieces of Flowerbomb 15th Anniversary Haute Couture Edition were produced.
