Verescence's Glass Score: an evaluation tool for lightweighting glass packaging

Part of Verescence's "Glass As a Service" program, Glass Score helps the glassmaker’s perfume and cosmetics customers opt for lighter weight packaging solutions.

Verescence’s new Glass Score glass weight reduction rating scale attributes a score ranging from A+ to F for each bottle design. Perfume and cosmetics brands can thus “compare their products on a universal scale and develop new glass weight-reduction projects,” the glassmaker explains.

For perfume and cosmetic bottles currently on the market, the average score is between B and C, according to Verescence.

"Glass Score is a simple and effective tool that allows us to understand the level of weight reduction of a glass bottle or jar, propose weight reduction solutions and help our customers make informed choices in eco-design,” Verescence Director of Innovation and Development Samuel Joachim said in a statement.

Glass Score is part of Verescence's "Glass As a Service" program launched in 2017. Other eco-design services offered by the program include 3D modeling, recyclability study and Life Cycle Analysis.
