Verallia lightweights Crus de France champagne bottle

French glassmaker Verallia has revamped its Crus de France bottle, part of its Selective Line by Verallia premium offering. The bottle is now 7% lighter, with a 27g reduction in carbon footprint at production.

Verallia is continuing to add to its Ecova* portfolio of lightweighted formats. The Ecova version of its Crus de France bottle for sparkling wines is 7%, or 65g, lighter than the original model, weighing in at 835g. This is the maximum possible weight reduction in keeping with the same design while enabling carbonated content, says the glassmaker.

The new bottle is available in the same colors as its predecessor: extra white, champagne green and cinnamon.

In other news, Verallia has opened entries for its 2021 Design Awards. The theme for this 12th edition is “Single portion glass” (“Verre en solo”). The competition is open to students and recent graduates in packaging, design and fine art, who have until March 31 to submit an entry across one of four categories; spirits, still & sparkling wines, beer, water & non-alcoholic drinks and food.

Glass artisan Laura Cambon is the patron of the awards; a former fine arts and interior design student, she opened her own glass atelier in Bordeaux after having worked at Lalique.
