French candle maker Trudon has launched its Christmas candles collection, A King’s Christmas. The collection takes inspiration from Château de Versailles and the Sun King, featuring illustrations from British artist Lawrence Mynott.
Trudon’s festive candle collection, A King’s Christmas, is adorned with rich illustrations influenced by Château de Versailles and the Sun King, Louis XIV. Trudon called on British painter and illustrator Lawrence Mynott for the artwork; he drew on Versailles’ ironworks, royal masquerades and opulence. The candle jars (Aton Luce) are decorated by hand: gold leaf is applied to the glass, then sandblasted through a stencil, while the interiors are painted. The boxes (Valtenna), which feature the iron gates of Versailles, are sheathed in brown Fedrigoni paper and hot stamped in gold.
A King’s Christmas consists of five scented candles. Bayonne, created specifically for the collection, boasts spicy chocolate notes in homage to the French city of Bayonne, where cacao was imported. The collection also features two previously available Christmas exclusives: Gloria, with notes of wood and spices and Christmas tree scented Fir, as well as Trudon’s classic candles Gabriel (chimney fire) and Ernesto (leather and tobacco).
The candles come in 70g, 270g, 800g and 2.8kg formats. They range in price from €90 to €550.
