The Harmonist introduces Royal Earth Parfum following packaging revamp

Niche fragrance brand The Harmonist has added to its Yin Parfums collection with Royal Earth Parfum. Launched in September, the scent is inspired by French perfumes from the 1980s and comes in a black lacquered flacon.

The Harmonist, a brand that aims to “bring balance through scent”, unveiled a new visual identity in October last year, as well as changes to its fragrance packaging. “Covid's silver lining was the opportunity it gave us to reassess our business and brand identity,” The Harmonist CEO Samantha Fink tells Luxe Packaging Insight.

While the fragrance flacons, whose design recalls ancient Chinese medicine vials, remain the same, the logo and font have been modified. So too has the way the Feng Shui-inspired brand presents the elements (wood, fire, earth, water and metal) central to its concept. The secondary packaging is now comprised of cylindrical coffrets – free from interior plastic says the brand – that fit more closely to the form of the flacon.

For its latest fragrance Royal Earth Parfum introduced this September, The Harmonist’s bespoke flacon (Pochet du Courval), is lacquered black and screenprinted with the brand and fragrance name. The aluminum caps (Tesem) are topped with a Limoges ceramic piece engraved with the brand monogram.

For the secondary packaging, the cylindrical boxes (Dupuis) feature hand-drawn illustration in the romantic style of the Aesthetic Movement. Both the brand’s boxes and coffrets are made from textured paper and cardboard with a fabric feel from Fedrigoni and GF Smith.

Royal Earth Parfum is part of The Harmonist’s Yin Parfums collection. The 50ml retails at €295. Composed by Guillaume Flavigny (Givaudan), it blends notes of iris, ylang ylang, rose, angelica and sandalwood.

The Harmonist was founded in 2016 by entrepreneur Lola Tillyaeva. The US is the brand’s biggest market, accounting for close to 75% of sales.
