Diageo’s Tanqueray No. Ten gin, a small-batch creation housed in a green glass bottle, comes in a tin coffret, which opens with a key that doubles as a bottle opener.
The rectangular, pale green secondary pack (GPA Luxury) is made of premium tin sheet and was formed and embossed to create what the supplier describes as “complex textural details”. The gin bottle is loaded through the top of the tin, and an attached lid then snaps on to keep it in place. The front-opening “door” is unlocked with a bottle opener key—a custom chrome-plated piece with the red Tanqueray ’T’ attached to a green acrylic key fob—that fits in a recess on the side of the tin. To create the recess, a bespoke high-tolerance injection-molded fitment was snapped into a die-cut hole. The brand's story and serving suggestions for the No. Ten are also printed on the sides of the tin.
Inside the tin, a vacuum-formed PP fitment holds the gin bottle, clipped in place at the top. A curved piece of reflective green metallic board was used for the backing, creating a visual effect designed to mimic Tanqueray’s green glass.
The coffret is available in 70cl, 75cl and 1l formats. Allied Glass makes the one-liter bottles for Tanqueray No Ten, while Stoelzle produces the 70cl format.
The label and bottle were conceived by brand design agency Design Bridge.
