Packaging industry trade show LUXE PACK Shanghai will play host to more than 180 exhibitors when it opens its doors on June 7-8th alongside Make Up in Shanghai. Innovation is a key theme of the shows this year, with digital solutions a major focus at LUXE PACK.
With China on track to be the world’s largest luxury goods market by 2025*, LUXE PACK Shanghai is out to provide the luxury industry with the latest in trends, innovation and sustainable packaging solutions this summer.
More than 180 exhibitors - 20% of which are new to the event – will be present on the show floor, including design agencies and suppliers of new materials and smart packaging. The TECH HUB dedicated to digital solutions will make its debut this year, featuring the likes of Japan-headquarted Toppan and packaging intelligence solutions provider Markem Imaje. Visiting brands can avail of the LUXE PACK Innovation room, which showcases a selection of exhibitors' cutting-edge packaging solutions.
Guest of honor from the art world
Chinese-American conceptual artist Juju Wang is the guest of honor at LUXE PACK Shanghai this year. A winner of the Swarovski Designer of the Future Award, Wang's work spans personal projects and collaborations with luxury brands. Her Snowflakes installation, created for Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet, will be a feature of the show floor at LUXE PACK Shanghai. Wang - who will be featured in the upcoming Summer issue of Formes de Luxe – is giving the keynote speech at the show on the theme “the era of synergy”.
Other speakers lined up for the two-day conference program include Cyril Camus, President of Camus Group, who will discuss the packaging design of Camus Extra cognac, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Xiongbo Deng, Creative Director of packaging design agency Lingyun Creative, will present an Industry Trends session entitled The Packaging Design 360° Trends Review, while Dora Jin, Senior Brand Strategist at Somexing, will host Inspiration 2023: Luxury Design Creative Concepts. The exhibition will also feature roundtables on the power of limited editions and engineering the future generation of bio-materials, with panelists including representatives from Moet Hennessy Diageo and materials expert Hyloh.
LUXE PACK is also teaming up with design agency BETC for its Sustainable Packaging Manifest, and Centdegrès with its Red Planet initiative. The winners of the LUXE PACK in Green awards will be unveiled on June 7th, rewarding the best in sustainable packaging and CSR initiatives from this year's exhibitors.
MakeUp in Shanghai in the starting block
Held concurrently at the Shanghai Exhibition Center, MakeUp in Shanghai is gearing up for its 2022 edition. The b2b make-up and skincare show has partnered with trend forecasting agency WGSN for the 2023 Beauty Visionary Trends animation at this year's show. WGSN will decrypt future beauty trends, with corresponding exhibitor products on display in a dedicated area. These trends include Full Spectrum, which is about playful and expressive looks and functional yet fun packaging; Soul Space - products that support wellness and self-care, and Design-Wise, focusing on inclusively-designed products that are said to be simpler, smarter and more sustainable.
On the conference front, Carol Zhou, Shiseido Senior VP, Shiseido China Business Innovation & Investment Representative Office, will present the Shiseido Beauty Innovation Hub, discussing how it develops consumer-centric solutions and collaborates with Chinese start-ups, among other topics.
Mr. Geping MAO, one of the most renowned make-up artists in China and founder of cosmetics brand MAOGEPING, will present a keynote speech entitled The Road of Ingenuity, Simplicity for Change, which will explore how to best balance technology with craft, and innovation with heritage.
