Stoelzle to debut US production with purchase of Anchor Hocking Glass site

With its acquisition of Anchor Hocking Glass Company’s glassworks in Pennsylvania, Austria’s Stoelzle Glass Group is expanding its global footprint into North America.

On March 1st, Stoelzle Glass Group bought Anchor Hocking Glass Company’s industrial site in Monaca, Pennsylvania, providing the Austrian company its seventh site and first outside of Europe. The glassworks is specialized in the production of flint glass bottles for the wine and spirits market.

Anchor Hocking Glass is a subsidiary of The Oneida Group; the supplier is headquartered in Ohio, where it also operates an industrial site. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“Our clear focus on manufacturing, service excellence and 200 years of experience led us to a global leading position and will ensure stability and business continuity to all customers of the Monaca plant,” noted August Grupp, President of Stoelzle USA Inc, in a statement.

This month has seen a series of acquisitions in the glass industry, including Tourres & Cie's purchase of La Rochère 1475 and Verescence's majority acquisition of Pacificglas.
