Yet more proof that the no-low movement is extending its reach into niche segments, Small Beer Brew Co. is a South-East London-based brewer that is enjoying the renaissance of an age-old tradition: small beer, a beverage consumed throughout the UK and much of Europe in the 1700 and 1800s as a safer alternative when clean drinking water was scarce.
The brand specializes in beers with alcohol content between 0.5% and 2.8%. For Father's Day, Small Beer Brew launched a four-bottle gift pack constructed of 100% recycled (and therefore recyclable) board (Boxmart). The design adorning the bottles, drawn in pencil to allude to the history of the beverage, was done by hand by Felix James, co-founder of Small Beer Brew. The brand worked with Falmouth-based agency Kingdom & Sparrow for the packaging design.
Sustainable brewing methods are a priority for Small Beer Brew; it is London's first brewery to achieve B Corp certification, an international accreditation that recognizes a company for meeting the highest standards of social and environmental impact and using business as a force for good. The entire range is vegan, while its Lager is naturally gluten-free.
