Schwan Cosmetics uses Sulapac for plant-based cosmetics pencil barrel

“TheBetterBarrel” is Schwan Cosmetics’ first cosmetic pencil featuring a barrel made with Sulapac material, replacing virigin plastic.

Marking the first time that Sulapac’s plastic alternative material is being used in color cosmetic pencils, Germany's Schwan Cosmetics tapped the Finnish material innovation start-up for its eco-conscious lip liner and eyeliner pencil range.

The pencil barrel is made from Sulapac Flow v1.8, comprised of 72% bio-based material, sawdust from industrial side streams and plant-based binders. Schwan Cosmetics and Sulapac highlight that until now, most pencil barrels were made of virgin plastic as the majority of bio-based materials are not able to keep the make-up fresh inside the pencil.

TheBetterBarrel product line comprising transfer-proof lipliner and long-lasting eyeliner will officially launch at the MakeUp in New York tradeshow on September 14 and 15.
