A new version of Schwan Cosmetics' The Better Barrel cosmetic pencil was on show at this year's edition of MakeUp in Paris

German manufacturer Schwan Cosmetics unveiled the brand new version of its The Better Barrel cosmetics pencil, made with plastic alternative Sulapc, for the first time at MakeUp in Paris's 2023 trade show. A new lip serum and concealer were also on show.
Following the launch of its The Better Barrel cosmetic pencil made with Sulapac’s plastic alternative material in 2022, Germany pencil maker Schwan Cosmetics presented a new-design version at this year’s edition of MakeUp in Paris trade show. As with the previous collection, the pencil is made of Sulapac's Flow v1.8 grade, comprised of 72% bio-based material, sawdust from industrial side streams and plant-based binders. The airtight barrel is said to give "optimal performance" to the color formula. What sets this new version apart it its double-ended design: one end features a traditional pencil tip, and the other has either a "vegan" synthetic brush or sponge applicator. The caps are made of aluminium.
Highlighting pack & formula
Among the novel products on show was the supplier’s SOphISTICATED adjusting lip serum, which made its debut at the Paris show. The monomaterial ABS pack comes in a crayon lipstick format with a twist-up system to apply the solid serum whose formula is color-adjusted according to the consumer's pH levels.

Launched in March, the Pure easy-peasy-glow concealer features caps, bottles and stems made of PCR plastics. The hybrid offer combines skincare ingredients and color cosmetics with moisturizing properties. The concealer is available in two formats: one featuring a dip-applicator and a formula reservoir, and the other designed for on-the-go use and topped with a cushion twist applicator.
