Salinas buys Fabregas Packaging

Alicante-based rigid box specialist Salinas has announced the acquisition of fellow Spanish supplier Fabregas Packaging, which had been in receivership since November 2019.

Valued at €9m, Fabregas brings with it an 8,000m2 facility with a capacity of 10 million units, a staff of 50 as well as an expertise in rigid box manufacturing more than a century old. The supplier also brings Salinas BRC food safety certification, which allows for the production of food-grade packaging.

For its part, Salinas will allow Fabregas to offer finishing techniques including printing, cutting and hot-stamping to its secondary packs.

With this acquisition, Salinas, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, will operate three distinct brands in the rigid box sector: Cartonajes Salinas, Latuc and Fabregas Packaging.

Salinas explains that it will continue to focus development on its main markets of Spain, France and central Europe.
