With its latest launch, Rosé Bleu, French winemaker Maîtres Vignerons de St-Tropez is lightweighting its packaging’s carbon footprint, while supporting the association Plastic Oceans International.
Rosé Bleu, a wine produced using sustainable farming practices, according to the brand, features a reduced-weight glass bottle (O-I) in a bid to limit its carbon footprint during transit. The facing label (IVE) is made of recycled paper composed of sugar cane and flax fibers, while the patented capsule (Ramondin) is a 100% recyclable plastic-free polylaminate decorated with water-based inks.
A percentage of the rosé’s sales will go to Plastic Oceans International, which operates beach clean-ups and creates awareness campaigns around ocean plastic. The winemaker adds that each bottle sold will result in 100 fewer plastic bottles ending up in the ocean.
The donation is not conditional on profit, highlights Vignerons de St-Tropez; funds will be donated to the association even before the wine is sold to the end consumer.
