REN face masks replace plastic packaging with glass & aluminum

Unilever-owned REN Clean Skincare has revamped its face mask packaging, opting for a glass jar with an aluminum lid.

REN Clean Skincare has debuted 100% recyclable packaging for its face masks. The brand's Evercalm Ultra Comforting Rescue mask (€47 for 50ml) and Clearcalm Invisible Pores Detox Mask are the first products to adopt the new packaging. Instead of the previous PP/PE pump dispenser pack with a standard pump (steel, plastic, nitrile), the mask now comes in a glass jar with aluminum lid.

The jar is made of glassmaker Verescence's Infinite Glass 20, with 20% PCR content, and is topped with an aluminum lid with invisible thread (Anomatic). Our partnership with REN has accelerated the development and commercialization of a widely recyclable innovative lid construction using two pieces of aluminum to achieve an [...] invisible thread,” comments Scott L. Rusch, CEO of Anomatic.

The packaging revamp is in line with REN’s Zero Waste Pledge for packaging that is recyclable, reusable or contains recycled materials. Last year, the brand debuted a sample pack made entirely of recycled aluminum with packaging supplier Tubex.
