In a bid to meet the ecological constraints linked to multi-material packaging, Spanish wooden cap specialist Pujolasos’ new system features a removable inner cap.
The newly patented innovation, called Woodle, allows the inner plastic (or alternately PCR plastic) insert to be removed from the wooden outer cap, facilitating the possibility of recycling. Pujolasos explains that the new system forgoes the need for glue to secure the two components. The plastic inner cap features a small tab that releases it from the wooden cap when pulled.
Compared with traditional inner caps that are glued into place, Pujolasos says that the cost differential is "negligible".
