Nina Ricci (Puig) has introduced a limited-edition of its L’Air du Temps fragrance in partnership with Alix D. Reynis. The matte white packaging was developed to recall the look and feel of porcelain, the French artisan’s material of choice.

After previous collaborations with dominoterie wallpaper designer Antoinette Poisson, Nina Ricci (Puig) called on Alix D. Reynis for a new limited-edition of its iconic L’Air du Temps fragrance. The French artisan launched her eponymous brand in 2011, specializing in porcelain objects, including tableware, lighting, scented candles and cosmetics. This noble material was the main source of inspiration for the new eau de parfum’s primary packaging.

In order to replicate the look and feel of porcelain, the bottle (Bormioli Luigi) is sprayed with a matte white lacquer, and features a constellation of small stars and dots. “These very fine decorations required extensive development work and the creation of new finishing molds,” the glassmaker confides to Formes de Luxe. “The porcelain effect created by the matte lacquer has the particularity of highlighting any small imperfection in the glass, meaning that the glass needed to be free of any flaws.”

The bottle is topped with a Surlyn cap (Albéa) in the shape of the brand’s iconic dove. It is lacquered white and finished with a matte varnish (Cosmelux).

As for the secondary packaging, the midnight blue box embellished with gold accents is the work of Multi Packaging Solutions (WestRock), with an insert from DS Smith.

Nina Ricci’s L’Air du Temps x Alix D. Reynis limited edition EdP is a floral musk. Composed by perfumer Sonia Constant (Givaudan), it blends notes of neroli, heliotrope, vanilla and benzoin. Launched in May, the fragrance retails at €113 for 50ml.
