Piramal Glass expands capacity in India

The Indian glassmaker is investing $42m in the expansion of its plant in Jambusar, Gujarat.

The supplier will add a furnace with seven new lines catering to the cosmetics & fragrance, specialty food & beverage and pharmaceutical industries. The new furnace will have production capacity of 250 tons per day.

The company notes that production will primarily be for export, to Asia, Europe and the US. Piramal Glass also highlighted that the investment will allow it to serve the high-end specialty spirits market from India, a segment it already caters to from its plant in the US.

Piramal’s Jambusar site already operates three furnaces with 23 manufacturing lines for a daily capacity of 540 tons.
