Newly launched Slovenian brand Petriot Gin has introduced its debut spirit, marketed as the first gin to be made with ingredients from the country’s Bela Krajina region. More gins are in the pipeline, each crafted with local raw materials.
Green George, the first in a series of gins from micro distillery Petriot Distillery, pays tribute to the Bela Krajina (White Carniola) region in southeast Slovenia through its use of local botanicals including birch water, rosehip, camomile and yarrow, and juniper berries from the country’s Karst region The product takes its name from Saint George, the patron of spring and happiness in Slovenian folklore.
The gin is housed in Solvenian glassmaker Hrastnik 1860’s Diabolo bottle from its super premium collection. The 70cl, extra white flint bottle has simple, rounded lines and is topped with a glass stopper (Vinolock). Marked with a landscape pattern, the bottle is adorned with a flexo printed label (Etiketa) made from Fasson Rustique blanc (Avery Dennison), a white, uncoated matte paper with felt-marked finish typically used in the wine segment. The label is decorated using Luxor thermal gold foil (Kurz) and screen embossed varnish.
Design studio Kontrastika came up with the brand concept, which Petriot Distillery hopes to promote internationally as it adds to its portfolio with a host of new products, according to Petriot Distillery founder Jurij Petruna.
Petriot Gin will next launch Lepa Anka, a gin that also borrows its name from a character in Bela Krajina folklore.
