Nina Ricci (Puig) has teamed up with French dominoterie wallpaper designer Antoinette Poisson for a limited-edition of its L’Air du Temps fragrance. Antoinette Poisson conceived a toile de jouy-inspired motif that adorns the bottle, cap and secondary packaging.
For L’Air du Temps à Paris, chez Antoinette Poisson, the specialist in the 18th century technique of dominoterie - printing decorative papers using engraved plates before enhancing them by hand - created a golden yellow motif for the fragrance packaging. The print, which pays homage to toile-de-jouy, takes its design cues from L’Air du Temps’ iconic dove.
The bottle (Bormioli Luigi) is lacquered white, while the print is applied using yellow sublimation; the flacon’s shape made it particularly complex to ensure that the details of the print were not distorted.
The flacon is topped with a white Surlyn cap (Albéa) pad printed in yellow and coated with a clear gloss varnish.
Antoinette Poisson’s print also adorns the fragrance box (Egisa), made from Arjowiggins’ Delos Snow and decorated with a combination of offset printing, embossing, gold hot stamping and matte and glossy varnish.
Perfumer Calice Becker (Givaudan) reinterpreted the original L’Air du Temps scent for this limited editon EdP. Said to be “creamier and more radiant” than the original, it contains notes of yuzu, red berries, tuberose and sandalwood.
