Coronavirus crisis: Neyret aiming for 80% production capacity in short term

Neyret marketing & development studio manager Sylvain Rivoire talks to Luxe Packaging Insight about the French textile specialist’s priorities in navigating the coronavirus crisis.

What are the most pressing issues you are currently facing?

We are focusing on three main points: to ensure the continuity of our production and supplies in order to deliver to our customers; to ensure the safety of our employees, and more generally to be supportive and responsible in the midst of the crisis.

What impact is the current situation having on production?

Our workshops are currently operating at between 30% and 80% capacity depending on the country. We expect this to return to around 80% within 15 days depending on the evolution of the crisis in the different regions. (Editor’s note: Neyret acquired fellow textile specialist Seram in November 2019 and now operates three sites in France, two in China and production facilities in Tunisia, Sri Lanka and Madagascar.)

What strategies are you putting into place to counter the impact?

There are several facets to our strategy: specific work organization and individual protection of employees in the production context; medical support for employees and their families in certain countries; sales and development teams and cross-functional services in home office and partial unemployment when necessary in certain structures or business units—those linked to fashion in particular.

How are your clients reacting to the crisis?

As far as projects are concerned, there is a feeling of uncertainty in the short term, but this varies from one product sector to another. Most projects are maintained and we’re putting everything in place to ensure the best possible support on our current orders.
