Scotch whisky maker The Glen Grant Distillery (Campari) launched a limited edition 60-year-old single malt this month, its oldest release to date. The packaging takes its cues from the distillery’s tall, slender pot stills.
The Glen Grant’s new single malt honors Master Distiller Dennis Malcolm, who is marking a 60-year tenure at the whisky brand this October. SGK Brandimage was behind the design and artwork of the bespoke, hand-blown decanter (Glencairn Crystal) shaped like a pot still.
Made of 30% lead crystal, each decanter is engraved and infilled with a champagne gold finish. Manipulating the heavy crystal item was a challenge for the metals team, which had to encapsulate in the hand formed, gold-plated collar, ensuring the engravings aligned. The decanter's decorative stopper is in the form of the top of a whisky pot still.
The decanter is nestled in a walnut presentation case (Moran’s Wood Components) engraved with the Master Distiller’s signature. Its engraved transit stopper is fitted with a fleur grade mirror ended cork.
The Glen Grant Dennis Malcolm 60th Anniversary Edition retails at €25,000. Just 360 bottles are available.
