Interparfums’ new women’s fragrance pillar for Montblanc, Montblanc Signature, is housed in a generously faceted glass bottle (Bormioli Luigi). Conceived by in-house designer Mark Eisen, it pays homage to the luxury writing brand’s iconic ink well.
Lacquered milky white on the interior of the bottle using Bormioli Luigi’s proprietary Inside decoration technique, the cap (Qualipac) features touches of gold detailing—namely the brand’s rounded star symbol—inspired by Montblanc’s Meisterstück pen.
Bormioli Luigi’s Cristina Scotti explains that the Italian glassmaker’s challenge lay in the bottle’s numerous facets coupled with its weight. “The angular definition and precision of the bottle’s many facets—which are also evident in the shape of the shoulders, which are completely flat and highly defined—were particularly challenging, especially given the weight of the bottle,” she tells Luxe Packaging Insight. “In addition, its irregular and asymmetrical shape required us to design very particular custom molds. By using our Inside technique, we were able to highlight the optical effects generated by the different thicknesses of glass, creating true 3D effects,” she adds.
Montblanc Signature is a floral-oriental-musk created by Givaudan perfumers Guillaume Flavigny and Nathalie Gracia-Cetto. The scent launched on May 15.
