For the coffret housing its library of eight, 10ml fragrances, Penhaligon’s opted for color-matched molded pulp combined with FSC paper and board. A neck ribbon and facing label are used to accessorize the pack.
UK-based luxury fragrance brand Penhaligon’s (Puig) has launched The British Tales Luxury Collection, a discovery set of eight fragrance samples in a coffret shaped like a perfume bottle.
The coffret (Knoll Prestige Packaging) combines a molded pulp exterior with an interior platform made of FSC paper and board. Ben Cohen, Chief Marketing Officer at Knoll Packaging, tells Luxe Packaging Insight that color-matching the material, achieving the shape and ensuring stability – the hinged pack has feet in the base – all proved challenging. “The coffret is a split round with a flat interior. Creating the under-support (platform) required a lot of engineering to ensure it fitted into the pulp exterior and was also able to hold the products,” he explains, adding that platform has pop-out mechanisms for the flacons.
The color-matched coffret is adorned with a Union Jack ribbon on the neck and an oval-shaped facing label (Printor Packaging) with gold-colored decor. “Molded pulp cannot support four color printing, but we found ways to decorate it, with a ribbon and a label,” notes Cohen.
Penhaligon’s’ The British Tales Luxury Collection consists of eight, 10ml fragrances. It retails at €160.
