Marc Jacobs (Coty Luxury) has unveiled its latest EdP, Perfect, which embodies the fashion designer’s playful and irreverent style; its golden cap is topped with a variety of multicolored and mismatched charms.
The scent’s transparent glass bottle (Bormioli Luigi), with its thick base and domed shoulders, highlights the pink juice within. The Italian glassmaker’s challenge lay in fulfilling the brand’s request for perfect distribution of glass on the base as well as the sharp vertical edges, all the while giving a high shine to the surface of the glass. “In a bottle that is stylishly simple and elegant, even the smallest defect stands out,” Bormioli Luigi’s Cristina Scotti tells Luxe Packaging Insight. The bottle is fitted with Silgan Dispensing’s XD11 crimped pump.
Made from plastic (PCTA, PP, PC), the charms adorning the cap (Meiyume) were molded then assembled mechanically and glued. Precise angles had to be respected during the assembly process, not an easy feat given the size and diverse shapes of each component. Compatibility of materials was also key, as some charms feature surface treatments such as metallization, and hot-stamping for the cherry and the dice.
Perfect’s pale pink secondary packaging (MPS) is inspired by vintage fragrance boxes and features an illustration of the Perfect bottle by New York-based artist Jacky Blue.
The floral fragrance was created by Domitille Michalon-Bertier (IFF) and contains top notes of rhubarb and daffodil; a heart of almond milk, and a base of cedarwood and cashmeran. The EdP is available in 50ml and 100ml formats.
