It's a wrap! We bring you a brief lowdown on innovations in the labels, closures, sampling, promotional tools and accessories scouted at LUXE PACK Monaco this week.
Promotional items
Palma collection is Dapy’s new stock collection of champagne buckets. The range, designed in-house, is available in two formats: single bottle or 4-6 bottles. The buckets are made of up to 50% Eastman Renew.
Ornament/Accessories
Two new materials were on show at Seram. The first is a flexible material covered in a thin layer of stone and that can be shaped to fit the component, such as the surface of a cap. The second solution is paper that resembles a textile and can be sewn, stitched and washed to fit a variety of bespoke briefs.
Labels
In a bid to offer brands increasingly sustainable printing options, Inessens presented its palette of 18 natural pigment shades developed from vegetal or mineral sources. As of lst April the French supplier says it has printed one million labels with natural pigments. It also showcased its “book” labels, which fold out in a page-like format allowing to increase the surface for branding and communication purposes.
Label printer DB Premium showcased its NFC and RFID labels where the tag is sandwiched between two layers, along with its doming technology that applies resin to labels and is particularly suited to make-up applications. The resin can be glossy, matte and olfactory.
Sampling
ID Scent, a specialist in paper-based fragrance sampling, is launching the Duoscent Touch, which is a split media that allows two different fragrances to be presented via the press, thus saving a page of advertising. It also highlighted its Scentpad and Scentdow solutions.
Closures
In addition to its premium bespoke Luxury Closure Artisan range, Guala Closures highlighted its Blossom collection of eco-designed closures as well as a newcomer to its Nestgate line of connected closures: NFC NTAG, a single-chip solution with tamper-evident detection.
Spain’s Pujolasos was highlighting its sustainable wooden caps. Woodle is fitted with a disposable plastic inner to facilitate recycling. Woork is an extension of Woodle, and uses cork instead of a plastic inner. Woon, a threaded wooden cap, is currently available for skincare applications, with the company working on a version for fragrance.
Setop, which uses Diam technological cork for spirits caps and closures, presented what it says is the first wine cork stopper that can be opened without a corkscrew. Dubbed BEO, for Be Open, the cork is inserted through a screw ring that forms the cap – in plastic, metal or wood. Decoration options include metallization and engraving.
g.Pivaudran presented new caps made from 100% aluminum, including both the weighted component and insert. The next step is for the caps to be assembled without glue for 100% mechanical assembly. The caps can be made with 15% PCR content and can be bestowed with internal finishes including matte, glossy and engraving. It also showcased its trials on recycled aluminum; matte and glossy versions integrating 15% recycled content.
Coverpla’s developments in sustainable caps include integrating recycled Surlyn, caps designed without inserts, those made from wood with cork inserts, or from 100% biodegradable, biosourced PHA.
