In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Parisian trade fair Les Places d'Or—an annual event which this year will be held this year from November 5-7—will put the spotlight on craftmanship. A handful of “noble” crafts will be featured in workshops to demonstrate these areas of expertise, but also to showcase the latest innovations in the area of leatherworking (with French manufacturer Gainerie 91), straw marquetry (in the presence of the artist Lison de Caunes), embroidery, paper and textile, and will feature the work of young designers from the Ateliers de Paris. "Our objective is to surprise visitors with live workshops and to create a link between craftsmen and packaging and luxury brands," explains show director Nicolas Zaoui. The 2019 edition will be chaired by Franck Marilly, president EMEA and global fragrance at Shiseido. On the exhibitor side, 18 companies will be showing at Les Places d'Or for the first time, including glassmaker Waltersperger, modeling and prototyping specialist MMB, Paris-based embossing and hot-stamping workshop Créanog and papermaker Gmund.
