The glassmaking process inspired Lalique’s 2022 crystal collector edition, Fougères. The fragrance’s flacon is designed to evoke the moment the glassmaker’s cane takes up a drop of molten crystal.
After the peony in 2021, the 2022 edition of Lalique’s collector flacon takes its cues from the process of hand-blowing crystal. The rounded bottle (Lalique) is adorned with a fern motif in satin crystal that juxtaposes with a transparent background along the base and flanks.
To create the flacon, the master glassmaker injected the molten crystal into a first mold to form the hollow part of the flacon. Once removed, the piece is inserted into a second mold, where the lower part of the flacon with the fern décor is injected. The challenge of injecting crystal over crystal without including impurities made the process a technical challenge, explains Lalique.
The stopper in pressed crystal, also produced by Lalique, is sealed with a gold thread using the baudruchage technique.
Fougères is nestled in a wooden coffret (MingFeng) sheathed in ivory-colored PU. The fern motif is stamped on the lid, while the text is hot stamped gold.
The flacon contains the Parfum version of Lalique de Lalique, which blends notes of rose, blackcurrant leaf and vanilla. The 80ml bottle retails at €1,200.
