Lalique unveils 2020 Hirondelles collector’s edition

The sapphire blue collector’s edition of crystal maker Lalique’s famed Hirondelles flacon celebrates the 100th anniversary of Réné Lalique’s villa in Wingen-sur-Mer in France.

Four glassmakers were needed to create the body of the 20ml flacon, from molten crystal, using the soufflé technique. Each flacon is topped with the brand’s signature ‘tiara stopper’ first created in 1913, shaped by five master glassmakers using the pressé technique. They are then cut, satin-finished and polished by hand.

After the flacon is filled with the perfume, it is sealed by baudruchage in the haute parfumerie tradition–an artisanal sealing technique. The gold thread (Blanchard SA) is wrapped around the bottle’s neck at our Luxury Atelier in Lalique’s Beauty Services plant in Ury, France, the brand explains to Luxe Packaging Insight.

The fragrances are presented in pale gold wooden coffrets (Knoll Prestige Packaging) covered in Winter’s Metallic Nappan Or Blanc. The lid of the box is stamped with Lalique’s swallow motif (designed by Lalique’s Creative Studio) and text and the logo are debossed on the facing.

This anniversary edition contains the Lalique de Lalique fragrance, a floral musk with notes of rose essence, blackcurrant leaves and sandalwood. It launches mid-July at a price point of €2,400.
