Consolidation among cosmetic formulators continues apace. Knowlton Development Corporation (KDC/One) has acquired Alkos Group, a French cosmetics manufacturer and specialist in hot-cast formulas that operates three entities: Alkos Cosmetics, Inter-Cosmetics and Sagal Cosmetics.
KDC/One, based in Quebec, is made up of a "network of manufacturers and designers of high-end formulas" in the cosmetics, personal-care and automotive markets, among others. Alkos provides the group with a solid position in France, where it owns three industrial sites.
According to former Alkos CEO Philippe Pavageau, who left the group in January 2019, 95% of the manufacturer's business comes from the sale of cosmetics formulas.
Following this acquisition, KDC/One group will have 13 sites in North America and in Europe. In terms of product innovation, this year Alkos presented ranges dedicated to the clean beauty trend.
