A newcomer to the spirits market, American brand John Chester Ross & Sons Whiskey opted for a vintage-inspired bottle with an elongated neck and a bold label design.
Brazilian design agency Holy Studio, specializing in spirits packaging design, conceived the packaging of a new Kansas City-based whisky brand John Chester Ross & Sons. Evoking the golden age of Victorian advertisements, packaging and facades from the 1890s, the brand opted for a 'maximalist' take on traditional whisky design for its first launch.
The brand chose a slightly customized 100% recycled glass stock bottle (ByQuest's Mallet reference). Inspired by the herbal Bénédictine liqueur bottles, it features rounded shoulders and a three-ring design around the elongated neck and base. Part of the glassmaker’s Vintage Forward collection, it comes in a 750ml capacity.
The die cut neck and facing labels (Brazicolor) are offset printed in four colors on cotton paper, and embellished with hot stamping, embossing, and debossing. An embossed solid brass monogramed medallion (Alanex Kft.) is attached to the facing label.
The bottle is topped with a bespoke 45mm faceted solid glass stopper with natural cork closure (Dexi Glass Artware). Its top side is decorated with a removable enameled pewter coin bearing the brand name (Toproadpins Craft LTD).
John Chester Ross & Sons Whiskey is an inaugural premium whisky release for Kansas City distillery House Veritas. Launched in autumn 2022, it retails for $80.
