The iconic Terracotta powder from Guerlain is now available as a liquid foundation. From a glass bottle to a cap that plays on layering and transparency, we take a closer look at the packaging.
LVMH-owned Guerlain has introduced Terracotta Le Teint, the first liquid foundation in its Terracotta line-up. The packaging takes its cues from the iconic franchise’s powder compacts: the frosted, lightweighted glass bottle (Verescence) is topped with a brown cap (Albéa) with gold hot-stamped band.

The cap consists of two pieces: a PP insert and a translucent external part in PETG. The top of the insert is engraved and hot-stamped in silver with the brand’s double G logo, visible when assembled with the translucent external component that is engraved with the brand name. Accurately lining up the two parts was complex, packaging supplier Albéa tells Formes de Luxe, as was hot-stamping inside the finely engraved logo. The cap is finished with a transparent UV varnish.
The bottle is fitted with Aptar Beauty’s Evolux premium pump, a best-seller for the dispensing solutions specialist and which is also used for Guerlain’s Parure Gold foundation that launched at the end of 2022. Equipped with the Alpha engine that is free from polyoxyméthylène (POM), the pump boasts a gold-anodized metal finish and Guerlain’s double G engraved on the actuator.
“This collaboration with Guerlain resulted in perfect compatibility between the formula and the pump, preserving the product’s integrity and improving the customer experience,” Aptar Beauty Marketing Director Beauty EMEA Patrick Bousquel said in a statement.
Said to “combine a powder’s level of precision with the fluidity of a liquid foundation”, Terracotta Le Teint’s formula is based on naturally-derived pigments and argan oil. It comes in 30 shades. The foundation launched in February 2023 and retails at €56.
