How Holmen Iggesund explores innovative new packaging materials

As a global market leader, Holmen Iggesund offers renewable and high-quality cardboard materials for sustainable packaging. Faced with climate challenges, the company is more determined than ever to work with its partners and customers to create tomorrow’s solutions from biosourced and renewable materials for the cosmetics and beauty industry.

Holmen Iggesund’s roots are firmly anchored in the forest, connected to an almost entirely circular system, allowing it to live up to its reputation as a sustainable player, not only thanks to its renewable and high-quality cardboard materials, but also by the sustainable management of its 1.3 million hectares of forests in Sweden. Its Invercote, Incada and Inverform product lines are already suitable for an infinite number of packaging and graphic applications. Beyond that, and as a world market leader, Holmen Iggesund wants to play an active role with its customers to help them achieve their sustainability goals, but also to participate collectively in developing packaging solutions that are really useful for tomorrow.

Choose the right innovative materials

Providing high-quality, sustainable packaging to customers is an ongoing journey. What works today will not necessarily be enough to sustain the world tomorrow. Switching from fossil-based to renewable materials is essential going forward. And choosing the right materials for packaging is an effective way to reduce the climate impact. It is also an area that is crucial for both customers and consumers. This implies working together on design, functionalities, and prototypes, but also learning together through studies and the creation of the necessary networks, which bring together the different stakeholders along the packaging value chain.

Make the difference

“We see the benefits of working with others to solve challenges faster," says Hein van den Reek, Director of Formables, Holmen Iggesund. "We must work together to support a more sustainable future. With smart paperboard solutions and purposeful collaborations, we can make a real difference.” That’s why Holmen Iggesund and Yangi®, a pioneer in fiber-based dry forming technology, are looking beyond the horizon and joining forces to explore potential sustainable packaging solutions. The focus of the collaboration will be on replacing rigid plastics with alternative renewable materials for beauty and cosmetics packaging such as refills, inserts, testers and other types of applications within the segment.
