Hermès has introduced a hand and nail range, Les Mains Hermès. The nail polish packaging recalls the brand’s white and permabrass lipstick, while the poplar wood nail files are housed in the maison’s signature orange boxes.

After Rouge Hermès and Rose Hermès, Les Mains Hermès is the third chapter in French luxury house Hermès’ beauty offer. The collection includes 24 nail shades, a base coat, top coat, nail and cuticle oil, hand cream and a nail file.

The nail products were inspired by the maison’s expertise in enameling, which the brand notably uses for its bracelets. The polish comes in 24 shades; the transparent bottles are designed to showcase the color and texture of the formula. A slightly thickened base serves to “create additional resonance between color and transparency,” according to Pierre Hardy, the designer for Hermès Beauty.

The white and gold nail polish caps topped with the brand’s ex-libris recall Hermès’ lipsticks, but with slightly different proportions. “The cylinder has been slightly flattened and widened,” Hardy commented in a statement. The long and supple rounded brush is designed for precise and uniform application.

To protect the formulas from light, the enamel base coat and top coat come in white and black lacquered bottles respectively.

The hand cream, in a pared-down white pack, is perfumed by house nose Christine Nagel, with notes of sandalwood and arnica absolute.

The nail files – 12 nestle in each orange box – are made using poplar wood from sustainably managed forests. The beige side is designed to file and shape the nail, while the orange side with its finer grain is used to smooth and perfect.

A “carousel” crafted by Hermès leather workers in Tadelakt calfskin leather is designed to house all 24 nail colors, the nourishing oil and base and top coat. The cylindrical structure has three round trays that are held together with an adjustable harness.
