Advanced Double R Renew & Repair is the latest addition to LVMH-owned beauty brand Guerlain's Abeille Royale skincare franchise. The serum’s double bottle is made of glass, rather than plastic, for the first time.
Guerlain has introduced an advanced version of its Double R Renew & Repair serum that first launched in 2018. For the new serum’s packaging, Guerlain replaced its plastic pump bottle with glass, using Verescence’s Verre Infini 20 grade composed of 20% PCR glass.
Verescence explains that the manufacturing challenge lay in replacing two plastic vials with glass, while staying as faithful as possible to the original design and dimensions. The two vials are assembled together, which is said to require a level of precision four times higher than a classic bottle, the glassmaker tells Luxe Packaging Insight. Mastering glass distribution was also paramount, given the lightweight glass and the complex design, while the product's instability required specific forming and conveying processes.
The recyclable double bottle features a translucent water-based lacquer and screen-printing.
Advanced Double R Renew & Repair's honeyed scent is the work of Guerlain house perfumer Thierry Wasser, and comes in a box made of FSC-certified cardboard. Launched in August, the 30ml serum retails for €143, while the 50ml is priced at €190.
