Guerlain celebrates The Art of Happiness with Maison Matisse

French luxury house Guerlain (LVMH) has expanded its Exceptional Creations collection with a limited-edition Bee Bottle created with Maison Matisse and hand-painted by Astrid de Chaillé. Dubbed The Art of Happiness, the Matisse collaboration also includes a new fragrance within the brand's L'Art & La Matière collection and a scented candle.

Guerlain's The Art of Happiness, a collaboration with Maison Matisse, has seen its iconic Bee Bottle flacon undergo a colorful transformation. Designed to encapsulate the arts of painting, music and perfume, the bottle's decor is inspired by Henri Matisse's La Musique painting.

Each Bee Bottle flacon and stopper (Pochet du Courval) is hand-painted by French decorative painter Astrid de Chaillé. It sports six colors and stylized forms that feature on Matisse's work. Paris-based La Fabrique Singulière, a specialist in collaborations between artisan craftspeople and luxury brands, supported Guerlain on the project.

The flacon contains a new scent, Couleur Bonheur extrait de parfum. Composed by Guerlain’s in-house perfumers Thierry Wasser and Delphine Jelk, it blends notes of bergamot, orange, apricot and iris. Just 14 signed and numbered pieces are available, priced at €16,000.

The luxury house has also unveiled Jasmin Bonheur, a new addition to its L’Art & La Matière fragrance collection. Inspired by Matisse’s Les Mille et Une Nuits, the flacon (Pochet du Courval) has a decorative plate on the cap and colorful secondary packaging.

The collection also includes the Figue Azure scented candle, whose glass jar (Bormioli Luigi) is decorated with lacquer and inkjet printing (Carbon Decor). Jasmin Bonheur retails at €310 for 100ml EdP and €445 for 200ml EdP. The Figue Azure candle is priced at €205.

Guerlain and Maison Matisse's collab launched in January 2023.
