Eco-Drive is the name of Israeli supplier Green Spense’s latest diffuser with the properties of an aerosol but without the drawbacks of gas propellant.
The patented innovation offers a continuous and silent spray that can be dispensed at any angle, an added benefit that could be of interest to luxury brands. The product is comprised of a pouch valve (Coster) inserted into an elastomer sleeve that exerts pressure on the pouch in order to diffuse its contents. The pouch itself is made of a high-barrier aluminum and polyethylene multilayer film. It could be designed to be refillable, although at this stage of development it cannot be separated from the bottle. As it offers olfactory stability, the packaging can be used for perfumed products, in addition to sunscreen, haircare or thermal waters, for example.
Eco-Drive is available in two materials: 100% PCR polyethylene or a paperboard box lined with a plastic film transformed by Ducart, a specialist in beverage cartons. According to a life-cycle analysis carried out by GreenTarget, Eco-Drive offers a number of environmental advantages over conventional tinplate and aluminum aerosol cans: its CO2 emissions are 45% lower for the paperboard version and 35% in the case of plastic. It also calls for the use of fewer natural resources, water and energy.
