The purchase of France-based luxury packaging specialist Cosfibel strengthens GPA Global’s nearshoring capabilities, boosting its position in beauty and food as well as wines and spirits.
Following the acquisition of US-based Jenco Productions in December 2022, GPA Global has bought French luxury packaging and merchandising provider Cosfibel Group. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
GPA Global says the move is in line with its strategy of expanding its nearshore and onshore manufacturing capabilities as it looks to shorten supply chains and speed up time-to-market. It gives the group a strong foothold in Europe thanks to Cosfibel’s manufacturing facilities in Spain, Portugal and Belgium. Cosfibel also operates an extensive sourcing network in Asia and to a lesser extent in Africa.
“Our global supply chain and manufacturing capabilities will enable us to better support Cosfibel’s customers and [the acquisition] increases our prominence in the beauty and food sector, while furthering our leadership in wine and spirits,” GPA CEO Adam Melton said in a statement.
Cosfibel CEO Marie Sermadiras, who took over the role from Cosfibel Founder and Chairman Alain Chevassus in January 2022, joins GPA’s executive leadership. Chevassus will work with GPA a senior advisory position.
"GPA and Cosfibel's complementary capabilities, creativity, and excellence in execution will enable us to grow even quicker, accelerate our diversification, and foster the transformation of the pack and gift industry,” Sermadiras comments.
Headquartered in North America, GPA Global was co-founded by Tom Wang and Adam Melton in 2007. It employs more than 3,000 people globally. Cosfibel was created in 2001.
