Luxury packaging specialist GPA Global is continuing its acquisition spree, snapping up family-owned rigid box manufacturer Jenco Productions. The purchase builds on GPA’s North American footprint and gives it a presence in Mexico.
After buying up ASG Print in Poland and Southern California Graphics in the US earlier this year, GPA Global has announced the purchase of Jenco Productions.
In addition to growing its presence in the US, the acquisition of the California-based company also gives GPA Global its first foothold in Mexico. Jenco Productions is specialized in rigid boxes, bookbinding and direct mail, serving markets including beauty and cosmetics, drinks, CBD and retail. Said to offer “cross-border expertise and scale”, it has a 150,000ft2 plant in San Bernadino, Califonia, and a 120,000ft2 site in Mexicali, Mexico. Jenco President Jennifer Imbriani will take on the position of VP Strategic Accounts at GPA Global, while John Imbriani is appointed Head of Operations.
“Jenco is a foundational acquisition for our global nearshoring platform. Capacity is expanding exponentially as demand is strong,” Nick Hurd, Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Sustainability Officer at GPA Global, tells Luxe Packaging Insight. He adds: “this is the first of many investments in the region as we seek to meet our clients’ global demand for near shore manufacturing. Our goal is to build a supply chain city in the region and continue to expand on our supersites in Los Angeles and Mansfield, Massachusetts. We are doing the same at our Poland supersite to support EU needs as well. GPA is the only company in the world able to support global brands today with premium specialty packaging manufacturing in three continents.”
GPA Global has 21 locations across Europe, Asia and North America. The acquisition of ASG Print in Poland earlier this year provided the group with a European production facility, while adding Southern California Graphics to its portfolio brought large-format printing expertise.
“GPA is in an active acquisition phase, with advanced negotiations underway,” Vincent Isselin, Business Director France at GPA Global, said in an interview with Luxe Packaging Insight earlier this year. “We want to cover all geographic regions and have at least a rigid box, folding carton and pulp offer in each of these zones.”
