Global Cosmetics Cluster: strength in numbers for beauty

Nearly five years after it was initially founded, the Global Cosmetics Cluster has officialized its status as an international association.

Described as the world’s first international cluster network dedicated to innovation in cosmetics, the organization groups together 15 national clusters and associations representing a total of 3,700 companies and the entire supply chain — from raw material extraction, formulation, tooling, packaging, filling and distribution to quality control, R&D and training.

The association’s board is presided by France’s Cosmetic Valley cluster, while Spain’s Beauty Cluster operates as treasurer. Secretarial duties are the responsibility of Canada’s Cosmetic Cluster.

“The Global Cosmetics Cluster was founded and launched by Cosmetic Valley in 2016 to unite our strengths and resources, to share good practice, and to work on common projects. This will be all the more important in the context of the sanitary crisis that is bringing new challenges, fostering a new balance of power in the cosmetics sector at global level with new competitors, but also new opportunities. The challenges are difficult to overcome and we need to face them together,” commented Cosmetic Valley President Marc-Antoine Jamet in a statement.

Founding members of the Global Cosmetics Cluster are Cosmetic Valley (France); Beauty Cluster (Spain); Canadian Cosmetic Cluster; AEBB (Portugal); Beautéville (China); Cluster Menara (Morocco); Corporación Biointropic (Colombia); DETIC (Belgium, Luxembourg); Cosmetics Cluster UK; IBITA (South Korea); Independent Beauty Association (US); Innov’Alliance (France); Japan Cosmetic Center; Taiwan Beauty Valley and TCELS (Thailand).

On a more regional level, Global Cosmetics Cluster-Europe was founded in 2020 to support the industry across the continent. It is comprised of six partner members: Cosmetic Valley (France), AEBB (Portugal), Beauty Cluster (Spain), IKMIB (Turkey), Polo della Cosmesi (Italy) and Transylvania Lifestyle Cluster (Romania).
