Givenchy’s Gentleman Society is the latest men’s fragrance to join the LVMH-owned brand’s offer. For the packaging, the brand opted for a bespoke flacon that is lacquered internally and is topped with a glossy aluminum cap. Described as a “breakthrough innovation” the flacon’s facing plate is in galvanized PP.
New men’s eau de parfum Gentleman Society from Givenchy (LVMH) launched this February. The bespoke bottle from Bormioli Luigi is made of 15% recycled glass, with the internal walls lacquered black using the supplier's patented Inside decoration technique. Ensuring perfect distribution of the glass and creating a recess for the 4G logo plate on the facing proved challenging, highlights the glassmaker.
A specific mold was developed for the facing plate (Albéa), which is injected in PP then galvanized for a glossy, metallic effect. “This PP plate represents a breakthrough in terms of innovation thanks to its galvanization, a step which until now was not possible on PP.” the supplier tells Luxe Packaging Insight. Creating a thin component while limiting its deformation during the galvanization process proved a challenge, says the supplier, as was gluing the plate to the flacon – using UV glue – due to the unconventional placement of the plate. A specific machine was developed for this complex gluing stage that is done after the bottle is laquered. Aptar Beauty’s La Petite pump is fitted to the flacon, which is topped with a glossy black anodized aluminum cap (Silgan Aluminum Solutions) engraved with the brand logo.
Gentleman Society comes in a FSC cardboard box. Chrome in color, it is embossed with the 4G logo and adorned with a black border that is a nod to the packaging design of Givenchy’s L’Interdit women’s fragrance.
Gentleman Society is an aromatic woody floral composed by perfumers Maïa Lernout and Karine Dubreuil. An EdP, it combines notes of sage, wild narcissus flower, vetiver and cedarwood. The fragrance retails at €97 for 60ml and €128 for 100ml.
