Giorgio Armani (L’Oréal) has added to its collection of fashion-inspired fragrances with Ikat Bleu and Ikat Rouge, two premium-priced limited-edition EdPs that blend contemporary and exotic influences.
Launched late last year, the flacons for Haute Couture Armani / Privé Ikat Bleu and Ikat Rouge take their cues from Armani Privé’s spring/summer 2020 couture collection that features ikat, an ancestral dyeing technique from Indonesia.
The eau de parfums are housed in square bottles with clean lines (Bormioli Luigi). Ikat Bleu is predominately blue with red and pink accents, while Ikat Rouge is its mirror image. Achieving a superior surface finish and defined edges was paramount, explains the glassmaker, as the glossy lacquering, which is overprinted “like a fabric” on all four sides, would have highlighted any imperfections on the glass.
The fragrances are topped with overmolded, bulk dyed co-polyester non-weighted caps decorated with a UV lacquer (Albéa). Both the bottles and their boxes are adorned with plates in contrasting colors (SMI) – red/pink for Ikat Rouge and blue for Ikat Bleu – marked with the name of the scent and the collection. Italian silk pouches tied with a recycled polyester grosgrain ribbon (Oriol & Fontanel) accompany the fragrances.
Ikat Bleu is a spicy oriental created by Juliette Karagueuzoglou (IFF) blending notes of pink pepper, patchouli and vanilla, while Ikat Rouge, by Annick Menardo (Symrise), is an oriental amber fragrance with hints of incense, bergamot and guaiac wood.
Ikat Bleu and Ikat Rouge retail at €600 for 100ml. Just 1,300 numbered pieces of each EdP have been produced.
