With its first women’s fragrance in five years, Japanese beauty group Shiseido’s flagship brand Shiseido Ginza Tokyo pays tribute to the Japanese capital’s chic Ginza neighborhood. The floral woody scent, dubbed Ginza, Eau de Parfum, comes in a minimalist transparent bottle showcasing both the pink juice and a black sculptural “dagger” that envelops the dip tube.
For Ginza, Eau de Parfum, Shiseido Ginza Tokyo’s new feminine pillar fragrance, French agency Constance Guisset Studio designed a bottle in which a dagger-shaped piece appears to pierce the flacon, embedding itself in the pink juice.
The geometric lines of the square-shaped bottle with thick walls and base (Pochet du Courval) are softened by the lines drawn inside the flacon. For the glassmaker, the challenge lay in obtaining a high-gloss, transparent flacon as well as achieving even glass distribution. The black injected cap (Qualipac) forming the top portion of the dagger is lacquered with a satin finish. The injected black plastic “dagger” (also the work of Qualipac) , which surrounds the dip tube, had to be supple enough to be inserted inside the flacon, all the while remaining resistant to the juice.
Ginza, Eau de Parfum, created by Takasago perfumers Maïa Lernout and Karine Dubreuil, contains notes of jasmin, honoki wood, Japanese cypress and patchouli.
The fragrance costs €58 for 30ml, €86 for 50ml and €115 for 90ml.
