For Candy Love, its first winter fragrance, Escada (Coty) opted for a glossy, heart-shaped flacon that quite literally turns the traditional notion of a bottle topped with a cap on its head.
German fashion brand Escada’s limited-edition EdT, Candy Love, is a fruity gourmand fragrance designed to “recall the experience of a funfair”. Created by perfumers Amandine Clerc Marie and Nicolas Bonneville (Firmenich), it contains top notes of candy apple, a heart of rose centifolia and a base of vanilla whipped cream.
The fragrance comes in a lacquered heart-shaped bottle (Bormioli Luigi) – a nod to Escada’s iconic heart symbol - that stands upside down on the cap. The glassmaker highlights the challenge of obtaining a fluorescent pink color, due to the instability of fluorescent pigments when exposed to light. The bottle’s heart-shaped design on the facing is pad printed red.
The cap (Albéa) that comprises the base of the bottle is made from injected Surlyn that is color matched to the flacon. For Albéa, the trick lay in achieving a perfect color match with the flacon for the heart to appear harmonious in its entirety, and for the gap between bottle and cap to be as small and uniform as possible. The cap, which has a PETG insert, is engraved in the mold with the brand name.
Escada's Candy Love launched last fall and is available in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml formats.
