Elie Bleu x The Dalmore: where cigars and spirits meet

What happens when a leading whisky brand partners with a Parisian workshop specialized in crafting humidors? A limited-edition humidor housing an exceptional single malt and up to 50 cigars that brings consumer rituals to life.

“Cigar aficionados generally enjoy a good whisky,” remarks Oscar Fuchs, Business Development Manager at Paris-based coffret manufacturer Elie Bleu. Indeed, the consumer experience is at the heart of the humidor’s design. The bottom drawer houses the humification system and accessories including a cigar cutter, and the two drawers above are designed to hold up to 50 cigars. A bottle of whisky and four glasses are placed on top of the drawers inside. One of three variants of The Dalmore, housed in glass carafes (Baccarat), are available: The Dalmore 35 years, The Dalmore 40 years and The Dalmore 45 years.

A metal-framed “window” in the door affords a view of the whisky within. “Humidors need to be completely airtight to maintain humidity, but with this project it was important to showcase the bottle of whisky inside, so we opted for a window. However, we had to design a metal plate able to hold the glass in place without causing loss of humidity,” he explains to Luxe Packaging Insight.

The humidor’s lacquered exterior is in black sycamore, while the inside is in okoume. The coffret, with its minimalist aesthetic designed to have “timeless appeal”, can be personalized by engraving a name on an 8cm x 4cm metal plate that also features both brand names, The Dalmore’s logo and the number of the humidor.

Launching this month, it is limited to 15 numbered pieces and retails at between €9,990 and €18,500 depending on the whisky chosen.

While humidors are a key activity for family-owned Elie Bleu, Fuchs says that the company is also looking to develop its business in the spirits and watches and jewelry sectors.
