Spanish secondary packaging specialist Egisa has joined Kurz’s RECOSYS, a polyester and PET recycling program. The supplier teamed up with Puig for Paco Rabanne’s Olympéa boxes.

Barcelona-based folding box manufacturer Egisa has announced its participation in RECOSYS, a transfer recycling initiative launched by German film specialist Kurz in 2020.

Egisa has partnered with Spanish fashion and fragrance group Puig to enter the program with Paco Rabanne’s Olympéa fragrance cases – the first Spain made boxes to benefit from the RECOSYS recycling system. Previously only companies within a maximum radius of 1,000km from Kurz’s headquarters could participate in the initiative.

By joining RECOSYS, the supplier aims to improve its waste’s end of life cycle. The program is based on a closed loop system, and recycles polyester and PET waste generated using cold foil transfer on cardboard. The waste is then transformed into a granular compound called RECOPOUND, a raw material used for injection molded applications.
